The brief for this project was an interesting one for me, as it required a mixture of different styles. My client approached me amidst their house renovation during the height of the first lockdown and needed help figuring out a scheme that works throughout 3 adjoining rooms: kitchen, dining room and living room. The plan is to open up the wall between kitchen and dining room to bring in more light and create the feeling of an open plan space.
My client wanted the room to have a homely, rustic feel but didn't want it to feel extremely traditional as their home is a 1950's bungalow, so it needed to compliment their home's exterior without it being very midcentury.
The main thing my client wanted a clear image on was the kitchen. After our consultation together, I created a few mood boards to see what style they'd prefer and they chose Modern Rustic. They wanted clean lines, but to have texture. My client also really wanted colour to be incorporated in the space, but nothing too over powering. This project is still on going as my client is doing the decorating and installation themselves. I created floor plans, product boards and an itemised shopping list for the dining room and kitchen, and my client visited me at Wren to purchase their new kitchen.
