This project was for a young professional couple that are first time buyers. The brief was to create a minimalist, modern and masculine scheme that was also stylish, contemporary and colourful with a hint of glamour. They knew they wanted the kitchen cabinetry and the bathroom to be grey, and needed the colour scheme used in the living area and bedroom to work harmoniously throughout the property with the kitchen and bathroom. The scheme features a navy blue, emerald green, a hint of burnt orange, natural woods with gold and black accents. My client approached me as they wanted their home to be more sustainable, eco friendly and bold with colours choices. This means bringing in wooden textures and copious amounts of plants was a must!
I loved creating this design for my client as it incorporates many things I love and their design style is similar to my own. It was also challenging as it required the space to be more masculine, whilst also still tying in with the more traditional styled Shaker kitchen without it clashing. The design was a quick turn around as the couple had just received their keys and wanted to move in as soon as the kitchen and bathroom were completed, so I used Homestyle to create quick visuals and layouts to help give them an idea on the style and look they would be going for. Another challenge was doing this project during the Covid19 pandemic, which meant travel and site visits were not possible, which required me to do it all online for the couple and project manage it virtually. Photographs of the finished design will be posted in another page.
